Well today was fun. Work, work, work...no real need to go into that boring stuff. No, what made this day memorable for me was, well, this:
Before:

Now:

Ahem. Yes, quite the interesting experience for an artist, the willful destroying of your own work, especially that which was done for yourself, you partner in life and no others. Indeed, very few other eyes have ever seen it in person.
Now, at the time such occurred, I simply picked up the paint roller and went for it, saying firstly, farewell to an old friend as well as trying to smile a little, thinking, “It is not destroyed, not like I scraped it off. No, it is simply covered, a “secret” contained, one that few will ever even imagine could be there.”
Well, that was then. Some hours later now, sitting with back and arm sore, trying to relax and perhaps soon seek sleep...say there is a tightness in the throat as well as a bit of eye leakage. Not a good sign, that, because of the majority, the pieces in the kitchen were not the Major Ones, the pieces truly dear, ones created with more purpose then simply desiring my kitchen to have a castle motif...
Well again, I guess that is really all I feel like saying here, folks, except that, yes, I could have waited, taken a “finished” photo where it was more than just a first coat of primer. Then again, for something like this, I think this image says “finished” in ways more apropos of the concept as well as being more respectful. Sorry, can’t really explain what I mean if you didn’t get it the first time. The words are for me after all.
Ah well.
Beyond that, previous to the priming paint, I was taking a break and doing a little window shopping. Yeah, smoke related stuff, what can I say? Went to Thompson Cigar and saw that they have House of Windsor’s Field & Stream in. Man, I’ve been out of that for most of the year. For those who do not know, it is considered an “outdoors blend” because along with the tobacco it has other things, such as licorice root, etc. As the name implies, it is a wonderful hiking smoke. I did not get in much hiking this year, too much to do, still, I thought maybe I could treat myself a bit. Pick up a tin along with some Roughneck Cheroots, the straight “sweet” blend, not the flavored, thank you very much. Never tried them before, and wondering how they’d compare to my dwindling and more expensive Bandidos.
Didn’t do it of course. Scrimping and saving everything right now. No more job, right?
Well, I’m glad I had the willpower and refrained, no matter I though, “Hey, I didn’t get in any hiking, but I still love that Field & Stream and can at least sit here on break remembering some good ones, as well as have it in my new, and hopefully, more woodland’s home.”
No, despite putting in a damn good day’s of very hard work, I just do not feel like I deserve a “treat” right now. This damn artisan’s moroseness at work, still, real for all that at the moment.
Night, folks,
Melissa
